Admissions at The University of Tampa has an entry level Admissions Counselor position available immediately for a creative and resourceful individual with an entrepreneurial spirit to assist in the recruitment of potential students. This position reports to the Director of Admissions. This position is designated as an essential employee and may be required to report to work as scheduled when University offices are closed due to severe weather or other conditions. Responsibilities include managing and creating a marketing plan for a geographic territory; recruiting and providing college counseling, planning and advising to prospective freshmen and transfer students and their parents; participating in the ongoing functions of the Admissions Office; conducting student interviews on- and off-campus; corresponding with prospective students, parents, high school and college counselors, alumni and others via telephone, e-mail, and mail; conducting presentations, school visits, college programs and off-campus receptions; planning, implementing, and attending special events; reviewing and analyzing student applications; assisting students and families with general financial aid advising; serving as liaison with various university constituencies; reviewing and analyzing data for planning purposes; participating in the development of goals as well as the university's marketing and recruitment plan; and contributing to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds. Requirements include a Bachelor's degree, strong public relations, customer service, and public speaking skills, strong computer skills, excellent written, oral, interpersonal and organizational skills, extensive travel with a valid driver's license and vehicle, availability to work required evenings and weekends, knowledge of or ability to learn quickly The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday, SLATE and Microsoft Office, and willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices. Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., summer Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with evenings and weekends possibly required.
