Established well known Bucks County bank is looking for a Controller. This position is Monday-Friday, 8:30am - 5pm. There is room for advancement and growth and a very generous salary.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The primary function of this role is the management of the Bank’s financial records, investment portfolio, and daily liquidity, as well as assisting the CFO in managing the Control Division of the Bank.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES:
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Bank’s policies and
applicable laws. Duties include planning; assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; training, interviewing, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Oversees the preparation of financial regulatory reports, annual report, IRR reports and ALM reports. Maintains financial records for bank. Prepares and
submits financial records and ensures accuracy and integrity of same. Reviews and comments on all Bank Capital and Operating expenditures. Establishes and implements operating procedures to ensure proper internal controls in accounting-related areas.
• Directly oversees and performs correspondent bank reconcilements, internal bank
accounts, cash management, daily operations of Treasury and Federal Reserve accounts, daily and monthly accruals, and federal withholding tax payments. Ensures all bank departments reconcile to the General Ledger on a monthly basis.
• Manages the investment portfolio for liquidity, interest rate, and credit
risk. Prepares and recommends investment purchases, sales, and swaps to be approved by senior management. Presents and recommends strategies to the Investment Committee and Board of Directors quarterly.
• Assists in establishing operation budgets for each department based on projected operating
costs, and the Bank’s Asset and Liability management plan.
• Completes other various responsibilities as a member of the following committees: Asset
Liability Management, Interest Rate Group, Investments, and ERM.
- Ensures all correspondent paperwork is up to date with valid signatures and authorizations.
- Effectively interacts with external examiners and outside accountants as needed.
- Maintains advanced knowledge and awareness of current economic conditions.
- Maintains culture of institution through professionalism, manners and work ethic.
Adheres to banking regulations and compliance standards, maintaining the highest level of
integrity and confidentiality.
• Promotes goodwill and generates new business for the Bank by maintaining an active and viable role in appropriate organizations. Participates in civic activities during and after normal
banking hours of operation to promote growth and development in the community and creates a positive image for the bank. Represents the bank at designated functions as requested. Abides by all aspects of Bank’s policies and procedures, and applicable
laws and regulations.
• Effectively communicates with all bank employees and vendors. Answers questions
independently and takes ownership and accountability in problem solving. Maintains
organized and confidential workstation.
• Completes other duties that may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university, preferably in
Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent; or a minimum of five
years related experience and/or training in a financial institution; or equivalent
combination of education and experience. Must possess the ability to promote high standards of professionalism both within the Bank, as well as in the community.
• To perform this job successfully, an individual must have experience in an accounting and
investment setting. Must have knowledge of audit trails and be versed in tracing and solving
problems through clearing at the Federal Reserve Bank as well as other banks and financial
institutions.
• Effectively communicates in English; proficient reading, writing and grammar skills;
proficient analytical and mathematics skills; proficient communicative and interpersonal relations skills; ability to build professional relationships and rapport. Advanced PC skills including knowledge of Windows operating systems, internet browsers, wire systems, networking and software used by the bank.
