Job Profile: Cloud Engineer I
Department : Information Technology
FLSA: Exempt
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES:
Support the design, deployment, and management of cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Assist in implementing infrastructure as code and maintaining secure, reliable cloud environments that support internal applications and digital transformation efforts.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Accountable and Reports to: IT Manager or Director

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND FREQUENCY:
Assist with deploying and managing cloud resources and applications on GCP, including Compute Engine, App Engine, and Cloud Storage.
Work with team members to implement and maintain monitoring dashboards and alerts using Prometheus and Grafana.
Learn and contribute to infrastructure automation using Terraform or similar tools.
Help maintain infrastructure configurations as code for repeatable deployments.
Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to understand requirements and implement solutions under guidance.
Stay informed on evolving GCP services and best practices through documentation, training, and hands-on experience.
Report to work as scheduled and complete expected work hours.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions.
Perform other job-related duties and projects as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This is a non-management position
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB: Foundational knowledge of cloud concepts and Google Cloud Platform services.
Exposure to or hands-on experience with GCP tools such as Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, or BigQuery.
Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform is preferred.
Some experience working with Docker and basic understanding of containerization concepts.
Understanding of networking fundamentals (VPCs, subnets, firewalls) in a cloud environment is a plus.
Awareness of security best practices in cloud platforms and basic IAM concepts.
Comfortable using version control systems like Git.
Basic scripting knowledge in Python, Bash, or another scripting language.
Willingness to learn GCP CLI tools and automation practices.
Demonstrates a proactive attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and desire to grow in a cloud engineering career.

WORKING CONDITIONS: The duties of this position are performed in a general office setting.
There is frequent pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities.

Desktop and/or laptop computer. Third party applications, printers and telephone.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near range with or without correction. Must be physically able to perform sedentary work: occasionally lifting or carrying objects of no more than 10 pounds, and occasionally standing or walking, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
CONFIDENTIALITY:
Has access to confidential information including payroll, inventory costs, sales, accounts payable and receivable, pharmacy data, e-mail messages, and all data related to operations.
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsible for company assets including maintenance of software solutions. No authority to make purchases or commitments.
CONTACTS:
Frequent contact with office personnel in other departments related to the position as well as occasional contact with users and customers.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Tehcnology, or a related field.
2-3 years in information technology; or related experience.
Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer or equivalent preferred.
