The Art Teacher will be responsible for developing in each student an interest in and the ability for creative expression in visual terms, using skills and techniques of artistic expression consistent with PA Standards; to develop aesthetic understandings and appreciations; to discover and develop talents of students in the field of art.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Planning standards based lessons on art and art history in accordance with students' grade level.
• Developing students' drawing, coloring, and painting techniques.
• Providing instruction on the use of art materials and methods.
• Teaching students about art history.
• Assigning and grading a variety of assignments.
• Recording and reporting on students' progress.
• Monitoring inventory and sourcing art supplies, as needed.
• Assist with arrivals and dismissal of students.
• Assist with coverage of other classes as needed.
• Communicate with parents/guardians.
• Collaborate with other colleagues.
• Selects books, instructional aids and supplies that aid in the teaching of the curriculum.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal or his/her designee.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification - completed or in progress.
• One or more years of teaching experience.
• Communication skills and interpersonal skills preferred.
• Federal, state, and child abuse background checks required.
