We are seeking a dedicated Forensic Registered Nurse to join our team, preferably with at least 1 year of experience in an acute care or hospital setting. This position requires a commitment of 72 hours of call each month, covering a combination of nights, weekends, weekdays, and holidays. Candidates must reside within a 60-minute drive of the facility.

Shift: Combination of shifts

Pay: $35.29 - $54.71 / hour, based on relevant experience

Summary: As a Forensic Registered Nurse, you will conduct forensic examinations for individuals who have experienced sexual assault or violence, providing compassionate patient care and referrals.

Responsibilities:

• Take medical histories from patients and assess their psychological condition.
• Perform thorough physical examinations and document findings accurately.
• Collect and preserve evidence and relevant specimens as part of the examination process.
• Administer direct nursing care for injuries and provide prophylactic medications.
• Communicate effectively with patients and their families about evidence collection, treatment recommendations, and law enforcement reporting options.
• Provide victim advocacy and, when necessary, testify as an expert in court trials.
• Utilize critical thinking skills and exercise decisive judgment while working in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements:

• Valid Registered Nurse license.
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Completion of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training within 3 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, with current certification prior to the start date.
• Minimum of 1 year RN experience or 6 months as an Advanced Practice Nurse.
