Summit Christian Academy is seeking a passionate and qualified Upper School Art Teacher (part-time) to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a classical and engaging learning environment for students in 7th-12th grade to foster a love of learning for what is true, good and beautiful. Our Upper school courses are delivered using a university model. Our teachers teach all of the content over 32 weeks.Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:Plan and deliver art lessons that support classical delivery in project-based units. Maintain assignment posts in the online platform. Enter lesson plans, assignments and grades into Gradelink.Foster an organized, respectful and Christ-loving classroom environment that focuses on the good, true and beautiful.Create a positive and supportive culture that believes in home discipleship and loves encouraging homeschool families.Consistently exhibit spiritual maturity and be a role model of Christian love, faith, truthfulness, and virtue, both in the classroom and in your personal life.Have a thorough knowledge of and interest in the subjects assigned to teachDifferentiate instruction to support all students who show up prepared and wanting to learn.Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues.Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support student learning and school initiatives.Knowledge Skills and Ability Required:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field preferred2 years of teaching experience in the age/subject you are teachingExcellent classroom management and organizational skillsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsPassion for working with children and a commitment to student successMust have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.Must be able to pass a criminal background checkPreferences:Strong understanding of Classical Education & homeschool experience preferredTeaching certification not required.Physical Requirements:Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.Additional Information:Actual pay rates will be determined based on a combination of experience, education, skills, and other factors directly related to the job. The incumbent will receive a compensation offer that defines the hours worked to support the school schedule, to include compensation for hours spent teaching, planning, and for other assigned activities.This job description is not intended to be a complete delineation of all the possible responsibilities of this position.
