Quality Inspector
This reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for QC inspections from incoming through to final inspections of outgoing orders. Documents and reports on any non-conforming materials/products and assists in investigating and resolving such issues.
B - RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES - Quality Control (85% of time)
\n
\n - Conducts incoming inspection, in-process and final inspection of products and materials
\n - Conducts inspection of shipment, creates and controls Certificates of Conformance
\n - Conducts first-off inspection of production set-ups
\n - Documents product issues and communicates clearly to various personnel
\n - Assists in creating inspection instructions, records and quality documentation for products
\n - Assists in collecting data, such as inspection and test results, to drive continuous improvement in manufacturing and inspection/test techniques
\n - The Quality Inspector is also responsible for the return material authorization process in the Plants.

- Corrective Action Support (15% of time)
\n
\n - Responsible for return material documentation in the Ogdensburg facility
\n - Responsible for inspection of return materials entering and leaving the Ogdensburg facility
\n - Assists Customer Service in Ottawa facility by participating in root cause investigations on customer complaints and faulty products
\n - Initiates CAR's for inspection issues
\n
\n
1) Education and Training \n - Technical certificate/diploma in textile, mechanical, electronic or equivalent discipline, or combination of MES product knowledge and experience preferred.
\n - Health and Safety Training preferred.
\n - ASQ certification as Certified Mechanical Inspector (CMI) and/or Certified Quality Technician (CQT) preferred.
\n

2) Experience \n - 1-3 years experience in a quality inspection function in an ISO 9001 manufacturing environment.
\n - Experience in the use of inspection, measuring and test tools, and calibration practices and equipment (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
\n - Exposure to statistical process control (control charts) in a manufacturing environment.
\n

3) Other Skills and Abilities \n - Attention to detail.
\n - Strong decision making skills.
\n - Independently manage and organize multiple work activities in order to meet or exceed established deadlines and priorities.
\n - Excellent people/team skills with an ability to work cooperatively.
\n - Ability to describe or explain information and relay instructions to others.
\n - Ability to organize, document and present information.
\n - Interpret technical documents such as drawings and schematic diagrams.
\n - Functional computer skills including spreadsheets and databases.
