Our client is seeking a Japanese Bilingual Payroll Staff Accountant. This position is responsible for supporting client payroll operations and individual tax returns.

 

Japanese Bilingual Payroll Staff Accountant  
Full-Time Direct Hire Exempt  

Location: Remote   

Salary: 59-65K  

Key Responsibilities:  

• Prepare and file individual tax returns (1040) and related forms 
• Perform tax equalization and gross-up calculations, particularly for expatriates 
• Collect, review, and enter payroll data; verify wage reporting and withholdings 
• Build and maintain strong client relationships 
• Stay current on tax laws and apply knowledge across multiple engagements 
• Collaborate effectively with team members and communicate with clients 
• Utilize accounting and payroll software, along with Excel and other applications 

Qualifications:  

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or concentration in Payroll/Accounting)  
• CPA or EA license (or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam) 
• Strong knowledge of tax accounting and payroll processes 
• Proficiency in tax software, Excel, Word, and related tools 
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal 
• Business-level English; Japanese bilingual skills strongly preferred 
• High attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities
