About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and analytical Legal Operations Manager to support a Fortune 500 client’s legal department. This is a full-time, 3-month contract role with the potential to convert to a permanent position!

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in legal operations or a similar role within a corporate legal department.
• Proficiency with matter management platforms (e.g., CounselLink, ServiceNow).
• Strong financial acumen and experience with legal budgeting and reporting.
• Willingness to support hybrid role requiring 4-days per week in Glendale, CA office.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead a team effectively.
• Epiq Counsel partners with industry-leading clients in support of their sophisticated interim talent needs. Must be interested in practicing in an alternative, fixed-term legal services model.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal Department Operations

• Oversee daily operations of the legal department, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
• Streamline and standardize legal processes to reduce costs and improve service delivery.
• Administer the Legal SharePoint drive and matter management platforms (e.g., CounselLink, ServiceNow).

Financial Reporting & Matter Management

• Generate and analyze reports to track legal spend, litigation trends, and operational metrics.
• Develop and manage the legal department’s budget, including forecasting and monthly accruals.
• Troubleshoot invoice and reconciliation issues; coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain data integrity and user access within matter management systems.

Litigation & Administrative Support

• Supervise and train Legal Operations Specialists and Administrative Assistants.
• Oversee litigation support functions including arbitration opt-outs, cash receipts, and service of process.
• Ensure compliance with billing guidelines and manage law firm onboarding and rate negotiations.

Additional Information

• Work Arrangement: Hybrid role requiring 4-days per week in Glendale, CA office during project period; relocation to Plano, TX may be required for permanent role.
• Conversion Potential: High-performing candidates may be offered a permanent position.
