Quality Control Inspector
Metals USA - Gregor Technologies Division is seeking a Quality Control Inspector in Torrington, CT. Metals USA is a solid, growth oriented aluminum/stainless steel distribution center servicing the defense, aerospace and fabrication industries.
The
Quality Control Inspector provides quality control and assurance of products to ensure that they meet production standards. Recommends adjustments to the assembly or production process. Inspects, tests or measures materials or products being produced to meet specifications and quality requirements.
Responsibilities: \n - Performs accurate mechanical and physical inspections of in-coming material, in-process parts and finished products
\n - Reads and interprets blueprints and customer specifications.
\n - Uses testing equipment including calipers, micrometers and indicators for inspection.
\n - Approves in-process production by confirming specifications; approves finished products.
\n - Reports and tracks any deviations from quality standards and recommends corrective action to appropriate personnel and upper management.
\n - Documents inspection logs, reports, and customer records with inspection findings and results.
\n - Communicates with customer, vendors and production personnel regarding quality issues
\n - Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
\n - Notifies management of product discrepancies.
\n - Adheres to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.
\n - Adheres to Reliance Steel and Aluminum's Code of Conduct as well as customer confidentiality requirements.
\n - Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of a quality control inspector.
\n - Wears personal protective equipment in accordance with training guidelines.
\n - Maintains work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
\n - Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Demands: Occupation requires being sedentary less than or equal to 75% of the time (< to 6 hours per day).
\n - Stand, walk, sit, hearing, talking, use of hands and fingers, hand-eye coordination, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bend
\n - Regularly required to work on multiple concurrent tasks with constant interruptions
\n - Occasionally drives a vehicle to visit customers
\n - Lift, carry, push and/or pull up to a maximum of 30 lbs. without assistance
\n
\n
Other Physical Requirements: \n - Must wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
\n - Steel-toed boots
\n - Hard hats with chin straps; chin straps must be worn at all times in the warehouse.
\n - Protective eyewear
\n - Hand protection
\n - Arm guards/sleeves
\n - Hearing protection if required by the hearing conservation program
\n
\n
Work Environment: May be exposed to some of the following working conditions.
\n - Position works primarily in an office/ cubicle environment
\n - Moderate to Heavy Telephone Use
\n - Quiet to Moderate Noise Levels
\n
\n
\n - High School Graduate or Equivalent
\n - Prior experience with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and ISO standards
\n - Prior experience with holding dimensions and tolerances that meet the requirements of customer specifications
\n - 3-5 years' Quality Control experience
\n - Must have mechanical aptitude and math skills
\n - Must be organized with attention to detail
\n - Ability to communicate both oral & written effectively with both internal & external customers.
\n - Able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, tolerance information
\n - Computer Literacy; Microsoft Office Products
\n - Technical Communication
