Job Description: We are seeking a skilled
Shipyard Fitter to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assembling, fitting, and fabricating metal components for shipbuilding and repair projects. This role requires expertise in welding, blueprint reading, and working with various metals and alloys.
Responsibilities: - Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Cut, shape, and assemble metal components for ship structures.
- Perform welding, brazing, and soldering as required.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
- Collaborate with engineers and other tradespeople to complete projects efficiently.
- Conduct inspections to ensure structural integrity and quality standards.
Qualifications: - Experience in ship fitting, welding, or metal fabrication.
- Knowledge of shipbuilding materials and techniques.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and precision.

Responsibilities - Complete an open-root weld test on a ?" plate with a ?" gap for both SMAW (?" 7018 rods) and flux-core processes.
- Prepare coupons by wire wheeling any rust or mill scale, and tack backing tabs onto each end of plates.
- Apply weldment to backing tabs to ensure stability during welding.
- Mount coupons to the welding test booth jig using nut and bolt attachments.
- Perform root pass with continuous weld puddle, ensuring no porosity, slag inclusion, undercut, or lack of penetration.
- Back-gouge test plates and clean slag from the face of the back-gouge using wire wheel only.
- Re-mount coupons after back-gouging and perform capping ensuring weldment is flushed.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Tampa, Florida.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00/hr.
