The New York Islanders Hockey Club is one of the most iconic franchises in professional sports, with a deeply passionate and loyal fan base that is second to none. Built on a Dynasty in the 1980’s with four straight Stanley Cup Championships and 19 consecutive playoff series wins, our history has defined a legacy that remains untouched in professional sports. In 2021, the New York Islanders moved to our new permanent home, UBS Arena. This state-of-the-art venue, which was built for hockey and made for music, is nestled within the historic Belmont Park – a storied landmark of New York. UBS Arena features best in class facilities and amenities, including premium suites, clubs, and lounges that offer boutique hospitality to elevate the guest experience. UBS Arena is part of a larger redevelopment project at Belmont Park, which aims to transform the area into a vibrant entertainment destination with the opening of Belmont Park Village in 2024 and the new Belmont Park Racetrack in 2026.

How to Make the Team

The New York Islanders are seeking a Software Engineer (Full Stack), Hockey Analytics to join the Analytics department within Hockey Operations. This role will focus on building and maintaining web applications that will be used across the front office. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working across the stack, with a secondary interest in data engineering or machine learning. The successful candidate will report to the Associate Director of Hockey Analytics.

Show Us You Can

• Design, build, and maintain web applications using React, Java/Spring Boot, and other API frameworks
• Develop scalable and maintainable back-end services to support internal tools
• Create front-end interfaces and dashboards that present information clearly to Hockey Operations staff
• Collaborate with analytics staff and other members of the front office to create user-facing tools
• Contribute to code reviews, testing, and documentation in a collaborative environment

Your Training & Talent

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Information Technology, or another related field
• 2+ years of industry experience as a Software Engineer or related specialty (e.g., Data Engineer, Machine Learning Engineer, DevOps Engineer)
• Coding proficiency in React Native required. Java preferred. Knowledge of Python, R are nice to have
• Experience in both front-end development and API development required
• Relational Database experience (e.g., MySQL, RDBMS) required
• Experience with Cloud Computing (e.g., GCP, AWS) infrastructure is a plus
• Knowledge of containerization, deployment, and CI/CD processes is preferred
• Ability to work under minimal supervision
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Where You’ll Go

• The New York Islanders have offices at Northwell Health Ice Center in East Meadow, NY
• Attend home games at UBS Arena as necessary (events can fall on nights, weekends, and holidays)

The salary range for this position is between $80,000.00-$100,000.00 annually. Actual base pay for a successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to, skills, education, training, experience and market demands.
